![]() RECENT: - Uttwil Master Classes 2012: Registration - Program Concert of the Winners 2011 - Photo album 2011 - Video clips and audio samples 2011 (25.12.11) - Audio-CD Master Beat Hofstetter completed his musical studies for saxophone with Ivan Roth (teaching and concert maturity diploma) and those for wind music conducting and music education at the Conservatory of the Academy of music in the city of Basel, further studies for saxophone (Frederick Hemke) and conducting at the "Northwestern University" in Chicago, Illinois (master of music), as well as for conducting at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. In 1988 he won first prize at the 10th national youth music competition in Riddes, as well as the special prize of Radio Espace 2. 1994 he founded the ARTE QUARTETT. He has a close cooperation with various composers and performers (Tim Berne, Pierre Favre, Fred Frith, Michael Riessler, Terry Riley). From this resulted numerous world premieres, radio and CD productions. Hofstetter is newcomers in various orchestras in Germany and abroad. He looks back on a 10-year work as a conductor of three country Ensemble and the Orchestra of Liestal. Since 1993, he is Professor of saxophone and chamber music at the University of Lucerne.
